נווה פריצקי The Kerem Tunnel, the first cycle tunnel in Israel is now open as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around Jerusalem, Israel's capital city.

The tunnel runs along the Nahal Refaim-Emek Motza path. Its southern entry is located within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entrance, Nahal Ein Kerem, is approximately half a mile away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.

The tunnel's official opening ceremony which measures 2.1 kilometers long took place in Jerusalem and the Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin, Mayor Moshelion and Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman) and hundreds more cyclists.

Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction due to its rich history. Elkin, whose ministry together with the Jerusalem Municipality spearheaded the project, stated that the ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels each year in the development of all aspects of Jerusalem's tourism and in the creation of exciting activities and ventures that connect the rich history of our capital city to the future of Jerusalem... I invite cyclists to enjoy an attractive, well-maintained cycle route, which overlooks the stunning nature of Old Jerusalem.

Elkin's Ministry, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25 million for the project. Work was performed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin said that the Kerem Tunnel project was a important tool to realize the goal of changing the concept for transportation in Jerusalem. "The tunnel, which will connect with the Jerusalem Ring Path, will join the existing cycle paths within the city as well as those that will be paved within its various areas. The tunnel is intended to encourage bicycling among its residents, and also to encourage an environmentally sustainable transportation system in Jerusalem."
