'Minecraft' Adds an Option to Create Characters

Minecraft players have more control over how their avatar appears. The latest beta build includes the option to create a character that will allow you to alter the body shape as well as hairstyle, skin tone and color, facial hair and eyes. You can select from more than 100 items and other items created by the Minecraft team are available for purchase.

The game is available through Xbox One, Windows 10 and Android for now. Plugins It'll hit Minecraft Earth and Bedrock versions of the game, which includes Nintendo Switch and iOS, when the beta has ended. You can still make custom skins on Windows 10 or mobile.

The customization option is a great addition, and it follows a long line of games (such as many RPGs) which allow players to customize their characters to look as they would like. Fortnite is only one example of a game that allows players to customize their character's items. While Minecraft has had a marketplace for community-created textures and skins for a while It's interesting to see the development team selling their own virtual items.
