Mojang Rolls out Player Chat Reporting In Minecraft Java

Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.1 is out now and it comes with some controversial changes, that some players aren''t happy about.

The first major change is the addition of player reporting, if they make abusive messages in chat game. The system lets you identify specific servers and choose which messages to include, plus add comments. Mojang / Microsoft moderators then will review the reports and take appropriate action. This applies to all users, even private servers. Another modification to text chat is linking together with that. With their new chat system that is secure, it will put a note by the chat for every message that is not sent through it or if the server somehow tampered with it.

Mojang claims that people won''t get banned for swearing, but it''s more focused on "hate speech" and harassment, bullying sexual solicitation or real threats to other players". It won''t impact single-player gameplay when you''re banned.

There are mods that are able to bypass this, for instance, the No Chat Reports mod, which claims to eliminate signatures from chat messages, making it "impossible for anyone to track or associate your Minecraft and, in turn, Microsoft accounts with chat messages".

In case you missed it, Mojang also recently said no to blockchain and NFTs in Minecraft.
