נווה פריצקי The Kerem Tunnel, the first bicycle tunnel in Israel, has been inaugurated as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem, Israel''s capital city.

It connects Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. נווה פריצקי The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is approximately half a mile away from the Kerem junction.

Elkin''s ministry, which also headed the project with Jerusalem Municipality, stated that his ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels annually in all aspects of Jerusalem''s tourism and in creating new ventures and attractions which connect the glorious historic time of our capital city with its future." Elkin''s Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 for the project. The project was executed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

"The Kerem Tunnel project is an essential tool to realize the idea to transform the idea of transportation in Jerusalem," Elkin stressed. "The tunnel, which is being constructed to connect to Jerusalem Ring Path will join the existing bike paths as well as ones that are paved in the neighborhoods. It is intended to encourage biking within the city''s residents and to promote the green revolution in transport in the capital."

The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to transfer its main sewer line towards Sorek''s purification plant.

The current works include road construction, installation blowers, and sophisticated safety systems to ensure that the tunnel is safe to use throughout the year.

The Kerem Tunnel gives you access to a variety of recreation sites, including Ein Kerem Neighborhood, the Biblical Zoo and Aquarium as well historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh or Ein Laban.
