A Delaware student spent two years creating the virtual world he named Titan City in Minecraft.

Titan City is made up of 4.5 Million Minecraft building blocks and has 96 buildings.

Duncan Parcells says it has taken the two years he spent to construct the project, and he is averaging five hours a week working on the project.

His first construction was a virtual replica of the World Trade Center, which took 18 months to perfect.

The 19-year-old, however, says Titan City is not a realistic model of New York.

He told the BBC, "It''s inspired New York."

"A lot of people believe it''s a recreation but it''s not."

He built the city using the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft but has now transferred it to the PC version that, he says, offers more construction options.

Mr Parcells plans to add an airport as well as an arena for sports.

He said, "I suppose it''s an outlet for architecture and energy."

"Architecture has always been something I have enjoyed. I am most happy with Victorian-style buildings that are more traditional and less art deco.

"A lot of people stop in to explore the area or help with the construction." Many of them help to create roads.

While Titan City has received a warm reception online, Mr Parcells stated that, until now, he has kept his virtual world separate from his daily life.

He said, "I''ve kept this under cover. It''s kinda like a second existence I don''t speak about however, people are beginning to find out."

"My parents think it''s cool. I''m sure they''re content that I don''t play it all the time."

Microsoft recently announced that it will purchase Minecraft studio Mojang for $2.5bn (PS1.5bn).

Markus Persson, aka Notch announced that the game had hit 100 million players in February 2014.

After an initial purchase of the game Minecraft is free to play, however there are in-game purchases that can be purchased.

The game takes place in a virtual universe composed of cubes of various materials. Most of these materials can be used to create blocks, and some can be converted into usable raw materials like iron, wood and diamond.

The game demands players to survive using blocks to build shelters and transform raw materials and mixtures of them into useful items (swords and armour, bows etc.).) to fight the various monsters that are in the game.
