Tales of Nightset
Pacha has been hosting this hippie, decade-spanning party for 40 seasons, one of the longest on the island. Finally, a place where it’s acceptable to throw up a peace sign in every photo. As Dublin nightclubs continue to close down, some think that the city’s nightlife is in dire straits. Touré remains optimistic though, believing it is just a matter of time before these concerns gain traction in the mainstream. He began DJing at house parties, and when his friends invited him to play a closing set at McGruders, he was ushered into the Dublin Underground scene.
The Notorious Club Platinum Porto Montenegro
This is the club night for the music heads in the know. Dip is a party in Dublin run by Cait Fahy, Enda Rowan and Robbie Kitt. Hosted in various locations across the city, their parties have an electric atmosphere as they whip the crowd on the floor into shape with their music selections. For our fourth instalment of chats with people within the music industry we welcome Jimpy. Space in its current form began in 1989 when Pepe Rosello, Ibiza nightclub owner since 1963, took over the establishment, which in the four years since it was built had housed a conference hall with a discothèque. The opening policy agreed with Spanish licensing laws, which state that an establishment must close for at least two hours a day. During 2009 Pacha acquired El Divino, near the marina of Ibiza la Nueva, which will be converted to a luxury restaurant and music bar, and its name will be changed.
