As part of the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem's capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

The tunnel runs along the Nahal Refaim-Emek Motza route. The tunnel's southern entrance is beneath Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance is found in Nahal Ein Kerem.

The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was inaugurated by Jerusalem's Heritage Minister ZeevElkin. It was also attended by Mayor Moshelion Avi Balehnikov Gihon Water Company Chairman, as well as many cyclists.

Jerusalem was once a popular tourist attraction because of its rich past. Elkin declared that, in the present aside from its historical treasures it also incorporates modern tourists. Elkin's Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25 million to the project. The work was carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Construction of roads, installation, blowers, modern safety systems and electrical wiring are all part of the current construction. The tunnel is safe for the public to use throughout the entire year.
