נווה פריצקי The Kerem Tunnel, the first cycle tunnel in Israel was opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem, the capital city.

It links Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban while the northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a kilometer from the Kerem junction.

On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Michael, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman, and a slew of cyclists were present at a celebration to officially open the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length.

Jerusalem was a sought-after tourist destination due to its rich and fascinating past. Elkin declared that, in the present in addition to its rich history, Jerusalem is also home to modern-day travelers. Elkin's Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25 million for the project. Work was performed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

The Kerem Tunnel also allows access to unique recreation sites - including the Ein Kerem neighborhood, the biblical zoo and aquarium and the historical natural springs of Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
