Minecraft 1.18 Release Date: what''s Coming in Caves And Cliffs Part 2?

What''s in store for Minecraft 1.18, and when will it be released? Together, 1.17 and 1.18 make up the monumental Caves and Cliffs update which will forever change the worlds of Minecraft with huge numbers of new blocks, amazing new resources, and stupendous world generation changes All of which we''ll cover in the next section.

Here''s what to expect with Caves and Cliffs Part 2 as well as the latest information regarding the Minecraft 1.18 release date.

Minecraft 1.18 will be released on November 30th for both Java and Bedrock editions, as announced on Minecraft.net. This update is part 2 of the Caves & Cliffs update. 1.17 was originally scheduled to be released as a complete package. Mojang decided to split Caves and Cliffs into two major updates to allow them to spend more time working on the massive changes these updates will bring to Minecraft.

And I do mean monumental. Caves and Cliffs Part 1 introduced more than 90 new types of blocks, new creatures like Glow Squids, Goats and Axolotls, and new tools such as Lightning Rods and Spyglasses. Caves and Cliffs part 2 will fundamentally change terrain generation in Minecraft and fill the most secluded levels of the world with all sorts of new resources and strange things. Let''s take a look at the highlights of the Minecraft 1.18 update''s feature list.

Terrain changes: Exploring below Y=0

In Minecraft 1.18 the world generation feature is being overhauled and for the first time you''ll be able dig below Y-Level 0.

The new depth is 64. Below Y=0, you''ll be in what''s called the "Deepslate Layer", where blocks of stone transform into deepslate blocks. This is the case for veins of ore as well below Y=0. You will find gold, copper and iron in deepslate veins.

The new underground terrain generation features will allow you to discover the variety of cave structures in Minecraft 1.18. The brand-new Deep Dark biome was going to be a part of the Caves and Cliffs changes, but this biome has been delayed along with its risky denizen, the Warden - to the time of the release of Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update.

The changes in terrain also mean that you''ll have to start looking elsewhere for Diamonds. Learn more about it with our guide on how to find Diamonds in Minecraft.

The towering mountains

Minecraft 1.18 is currently being revamped. Minecraft online The mountains now are created in a different manner. Instead of having just one or two "extreme hills" or "mountain" biomes, there are five new sub-biomes that comprise the different layers in each mountain.

- Mountain Meadow (Y=100-140): home to sweet berry and flowering bush Mountain Grove (Y=110-140): home to sweet berry bushes and flowers Mountain Grove (Y=110-140): snowy, home to rabbits and Polar bears. - Snowy Slopes (Y=140-170): snowy and icy and home to goats. Lofty Peaks (Y=170+) They are mountains of snow, stones and ice. - Snow Capped Peaks Similar to Lofty Peaks, but cold enough to make Packed Ice.

If you''re paying attention to those Y-Levels you''ll see that 1.18 is increasing the maximum heights of mountains. Prior to that, they were limited to around 140 Y however now they can reach up to the limit of Y=255. This is a great option for castles and towers on tops of mountains.

There aren''t many mountains that will be this tall, however, and only the tallest ones will have the new Lofty Peaks and Snow Capped Peaks biomes. These terrain changes will bring a new zeal to exploration and discovery to any 1.18 Minecraft world. I''ll definitely be working hard to update our list of the most popular Minecraft seeds when the second part of Caves and Cliffs is released!

Lush Cave and Dripstone Cave biomes

Dipping back down below ground again, Caves and Cliffs part 2 brings two more cave types including the Lush Cave and the Dripstone Cave.

Lush Caves are temperate caves that are brimming with moss, vines and other exotic flora like Glow Berries and Azalea trees, Spore Blossoms and roots and dripleaf: a new block type which can only carry a player''s weight for a short period before tipping and letting the player fall. It sounds like Lush Caves will be a great spot to practice parkour. I''m eager to see how these gorgeous caves look like when you use the top Minecraft shader packs.

Dripstone Caves are, predictably, home to the new Dripstone blocks that naturally grow through the process of drips to form organic-looking stalactites and stalagmites. Dripstone Caves, aside from their fascinating terrain feature, are functionally identical to other caves, however they are highly sought-after just for the dripstone.

What are the other features promised in Caves and Cliffs Part 2?

A number of notable additions that were originally scheduled to be released in Minecraft 1.18 were delayed. They will be arriving to us in Minecraft 1.19 at the most recent. It is likely to be released in 2022 or so. These delays include the new Deep Dark biome, Sculk Blocks and the Warden.

It''s been confirmed that at least three of the delayed features (namely Bundles and Archaeology) will not be included in the Wild Update. However, the Minecraft team is trying to ensure that none are being cancelled. It''s still a sad news for those who were excited about these changes. However, we will soon be able to experience the vast terrain changes Minecraft 1.18 will bring.

That''s all we have to say about the main features and details of Minecraft''s forthcoming 1.18 update.
