''Minecraft'' has Sold 176 million Copies Worldwide


Microsoft announced that they have sold 176 million copies of Minecraft, quite a big jump over the 156 million figure it announced just seven months ago. Despite the hype surrounding Fortnite, Microsoft has kept Minecraft fresh with features like the Dungeons Online Co-op, a no-cost browser edition, and a movie. There is now an augmented reality version called Minecraft Earth. Microsoft said it has reached 200 million registered users of the Microsoft China edition and has completed 130 million Minecraft "Hour of Code" sessions.



The numbers could rise when it starts ramping up the beta program for Earth. Microsoft plans to gradually launch Minecraft Earth to the world, with the first closed beta set to begin this summer.
