Apple TV is Better for Cable TV Subscribers and Cord-cutters

Today, during its major WWDC keynote, Apple announced a few improvements to the Apple TV platform. New apps are coming to the platform include Sling TV (finally), Fox Sports, the French streaming service Molotov and the Minecraft: Story Mode game. Apple is also updating the remote app on your iPhone. The app works similarly to the hardware remote. It has a navigation using touch and Siri voice search. You can also use the keyboard to input and control the accelerometer. The hardware itself is now more like the remote. A new feature known as "Live Tune In" will allow users to switch between live streaming channels like ESPN, Disney, and numerous others. Automatic App Downloads allow you to install universal apps on your iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Apple has also addressed the issue of signing in to all of these networks TV Everywhere apps with Single sign-on. Simply sign in with your information once, and you''ll be authenticated by all apps that support it, which is applicable for Apple TV and also mobile iOS devices.

Once a user has signed into one network app and is signed into another app that is available on Apple TV from participating pay-TV providers will automatically log the user into all other supported apps that require authentication.

When they sign-up with one click users can access the entire list of authenticated apps that a pay-TV service can provide to make it easier to find, download and enjoy all their favorite video channels.

Any app on the network can benefit from this technology to provide a single sign-on, and simplify the process for viewers.

Single sign-on will work on both iOS and Apple TV.

Apple is bringing HomeKit (ReplayKit) and PhotoKit (PhotoKit) to the tvOS platform. Now devs can tie in home automation features to apps on the TV or pull images from the photostream, and much more. Just Another Site With ReplayKit (already available on iOS 9), they can record and live stream from within apps, meaning we could see Twitch-like functions becoming widespread on Apple TV, or maybe even DVR-like recording of live streams. A developer preview is rolling out today, containing all of the new features, and they''ll be available to the rest of us by the time we reach the end of September.
