Minecraft Adds Tribute To Technoblade After Streamer's Death

Minecraft has been updated with a tribute to the popular streamer Technoblade, whose death from cancer was announced by his family last week. The Minecraft splash image in the game's launcher features a pig with a golden crown. Welcome to my blog This is a tribute to Technoblade's Minecraft character. Friday's tweet from the Minecraft team stated that they were "heartbroken" by Technoblade's death and that he "brought such joy to the game community."

We have been trying for the words, but all of Minecraft is heartbroken at the loss Technoblade. He meant so much to our community and brought so much joy. He will be missed dearly.

Technoblade was a very popular Minecraft streamer. He had more than 13,000,000 YouTube subscribers and was part the hit server Dream SMP. In a YouTube video published last Thursday, Technoblade's father read a message from the streamer and discussed the work that had gone into making this final video as he was struggling with cancer. As of this writing, it has more than 54 million views.

Tributes to Technoblade have poured in from other streamers and members of the Minecraft creator community. Numerous pieces of fanart have been uploaded to Twitter in remembrance of Technoblade.

Although the Minecraft team has not yet acknowledged the splash screen update, it clearly made this small change as a tribute. The launcher image's original version still shows a pig sitting in the same location, but it doesn't have Technoblade’s trademark crown.
