Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Features

So you want to know about the Minecraft 1.19, The Wild update? First announced in October 2021, The Wild update is a major addition to the Java edition of the beloved sandbox game and it is now live.

The update includes a bunch of new features, from new biomes such as the Deep Dark and Mangrove swamp, new Minecraft mobs like The Warden and the allay mob, which won the Minecraft mob vote in 2021. The Minecraft 1.19 The Wild update includes new world generation, such as ancient cities that spawn underground in the Deep Dark. The Deep Dark also includes new items such as disc fragments and echo shards.

The new Mud block allows you to make clay and mud brinks by mixing soil with water. Frogs and a new enchantment are also included in this update. Here's all we know so far about Minecraft 1.19 and a summary listing the key features.

Minecraft 1.19 features

Deep dark biome

The new Deep Dark biome will spawn underground within the Deepslate layers. It will be equipped with new blocks and may spawn Ancient cities. This biome also hosts the Warden.

You can get dirt by pouring water on it - this is true both in real life and with the new mudblock. To drain the moisture and make it clay-like, you can place a mudblock on top of the dripstone. Or you can make mud bricks from it.

Mangrove swamp biome, mangrove trees

The Wild will feature a major swamp update including mangrove trees. Mangrove trees will grow from propagules which can be planted underwater or on land, and they'll grow up into big masses of root blocks with vines hanging down around them. You can harvest them for a new wood type. My cms Mangrove swamp biomes can also be found.

Boats with chests

Most importantly, we're getting boats with chests in the them - quite self-explanatory. The devs suggest the wider rivers introduced with the new world generation features will be a perfect excuse to take your storage-enhanced boats out for a spin.

Allay mob

The allay mob, which won the vote, will be part of 1.19 too. It is a small, blue fairy-like creature who collects items and loves to dance.

Frogs

Frogs start out as tadpoles, which you can put in a bucket, and then grow into one of three types of frogs, either snowy, swampy, or tropical, depending on the temperature in the biome where they mature. Frogs will hop toward lily pads when they can - they might also be tempted into a fall by dripleaves.

Originally, Frogs were going to be able to eat another planned new addition in 1.19 - Fireflies. However, it was revealed that these luminous bugs would not be included in The Wild update. They might still be present in future releases, but likely as their own thing.
