'GTA V' Release News: Rockstar Game Servers Conk Out Following Epic Game Giveaway


It's no surprise that this game is one of the most popular to date. Rockstar Games did not prepare for the large number of players. Their servers were apparently unable handle the load.



Rockstar issued an advisory via Twitter that players could run into problems accessing "GTA 5" for PC and the company's game launcher. The reason mentioned is due to "extremely high player volumes," likely resulting in the surge of new first-time players who want to try out "GTA V." Efforts were underway to try and restore the servers. It seems that Rockstar was not prepared for the surge of players.



What Rockstar may have failed to realize is that a lot of people at home and looking for something to do. Hence, many would take up the Epic Games' free giveaway and try it out. Epic Games has offered many high-profile games in the past, but they may not have considered the popularity of "GTA V"



Rockstar was not the only one that experienced server issues. CNet reported that Epic Games had also been experiencing heavy loads since the release of "GTA V", but things seem to have returned back to normal. The site will be down for a while, but Epic Games has the option to offer "Grand Theft Auto 5" for free until May 21.



Those who wish to still get the game free of charge. All they need to do to register for Epic Games is to go to the Epic Games site. Epic Games also offers a free software client for new customers.
