Ten thousand Minecraft fans gathered in London on Saturday and Sunday for a convention celebrating the popular video game.

Microsoft, which owns Minecraft, gave a handful of gamers a "golden ticket" to try out its new augmented reality device Hololens.

The company is developing a Minecraft-compatible version. It allows gamers the ability to project their creations onto almost any flat surface, in 3D.

Callum Ward tried the device Saturday and told BBC News that it was "more difficult" than a console.

Toby, his brother, agreed that it was difficult to get used to but praised the "cool" features of the game, including the ability for other players to be zapped with lightning strikes.

Minecon 2015 set a new world record for the most tickets sold at an event that focuses on one game.

Robert and Vik (better known as MrWoofless, Vikkstar123HD) were among the crowd.

Vik told the BBC: "Minecon is such a great experience for us as YouTubers. We create content for an audience across the world and it''s rare that we get to go and meet them."
