Report: Jason Momoa Will Star In That Minecraft Movie

The Minecraft movie is stacking up its cast. Jason Momoa, whom you may know as the guy with mountainous biceps and a waterfall of hair from Aquaman or the guy with mountainous biceps and a waterfall of hair from Game of Thrones, will star in the Minecraft movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is the truth.

In the event you''ve banished it from your memory, the Minecraft movie has been around the block. It first appeared in 2014 when Minecraft creator Marcus "Notch” Persson posted a tweet about its "potential existence" in an attempt to avoid "leaks." The film has been in various states development hell since then (an industry term used to describe projects that have languished for years due to production problems).

Shawn Levy, who you may be familiar with as the director of richly complex narrative tapestries such as The Adam Project and Free Guy, was tapped to direct the project at one point. However, he quickly left. Another option was Rob McElhenney, of It''s Always Sunny In Philadelphia fame, who was attached to the project in the exact same capacity. The film was scheduled for release in 2019. He exited Minecraft in 2018, delaying the film indefinitely. Warner Bros., the film’s production company, gave it an official release date of 2022 shortly after it was originally scheduled for release. (Hey, kind of on track!) Peter Solett, who directed the surprisingly heartfelt Nick and Nora''s Infinite Playlist, was attached to direct.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Jared Hess will take the role of director. Homeshare Hess is most well-known for his bizarre coming-of-age comedy Napoleon Dynamite, but he has also directed a few television episodes, including two episodes for Will Forte''s The Last Man on Earth.

It''s not clear what the plot will be for the Minecraft movie. It''s safe for us to assume that Minecraft will be less serious than the block movie. Hess will direct and Momoa, a comedian with solid comedy chops.
