In Super Meat Boy, Steve?

Prepare for an adventure of limitless possibilities as you build, mine, battle mobs, and explore the ever-changing Minecraft landscape.

Minecraft is a 3D sandbox game originally created by Markus "Notch" Persson. It is maintained by Mojang Studios which is part of Xbox Game Studios. This, in turn, is part of Microsoft.

From its creation, Minecraft was developed almost exclusively by Notch until Jens "Jeb" Bergensten started working with him and has since become head of its development. It features music composed by Daniel "C418", Kumi Timioka, Lena Raine, and KristofferZetterstrand. The original release of Minecraft Classic was May 17, 2009; the game was then fully released November 18, 2011. Minecraft has expanded to consoles and mobile devices since its initial release. Microsoft purchased Minecraft and all Mojang Studios’ assets for US$2.5 million on November 6, 2014. [6][7] Notch left Mojang and no longer works on Minecraft.

Minecraft focuses on allowing the player to explore, interact with and modify a dynamically-generated map made of one-cubic-meter-sized blocks. The environment also features items, mobs, plants and other creatures. Some activities in the game include building, mining for ore, fighting hostile mobs and crafting new blocks and tools by gathering various resources found in the game. Open-ended gameplay allows players to create structures and create artwork on various multiplayer servers, or their single-player maps. Redstone circuits can be used to perform remote actions and logic computations. They also have minecarts and tracks. The Nether is a mysterious underworld. The End is a dimension where you can travel to defeat the Ender dragon.

A Minecraft world newly created.

One of the two default player characters, called Steve.

The player is the person that the user controls in the world. When the user starts a game, the player is put in a world, generated by a random or specified seed, with an empty inventory. A chest containing basic items will be generated near the player if the bonus chest option has been enabled. The player''s health bar is 10 hearts. It can be damaged by falling, suffocation and drowning, fire and lava, lightning, cacti sweet berry bush bushes, magma block, falling into the Void and hitting another entity with thorns armor splash potions, fallen anvils, and being hit by other players and mobs. Armor or Resistance potion can mitigate damage to health. Eating food and drinking specific potions can restore health. When the difficulty is set as Peaceful, health will automatically regenerate. Hunger is also a factor when the difficulty is not set at Peaceful. This means that your health will diminish over time and you will be able to sprint, jump, or swim faster. The hunger level can be replenished by food, but eating rotten flesh or raw chicken may cause a hunger effect. The difficulty level will determine how starvation affects the player''s health. It can even lead to death.

A player can update their skin on Minecraft.net, in the Minecraft Launcher Java Edition, or in the pause and main menus on Bedrock Edition.

A building that was inspired from a Greek acropolis.

Minecraft is a three-dimensional world made up of cubes. Each cube is occupied by a different type of block. There are different types of blocks; natural blocks such as grass, stone and ores that generate randomly within the world. There are also blocks players can craft, such a furnace or crafting table. Blocks can be used to create resources by hand or using tools. Some resources can be used to create tools or blocks, while others can be placed in the player''s inventory. Some are not practical. Some blocks cannot be broken by normal survival means, e.g. bedrock, end portal frames, command blocks, nether and end portals, barriers and air.

Mining

You can mine many ores near lava with a pickaxe.

Mining is one aspect of Minecraft. It''s used to extract ore from the ground. These ores include coal, iron, gold, redstone, diamond, lapis lazuli, copper and emerald. Mining can be done from the surface or through a cave. Because they are rich in ores, mineshafts or ravines can create additional areas that could contain resources.

Crafting and smelting

To create most blocks and items in Minecraft, a crafting table is needed.

Crafting allows players to create new tools and blocks using items from their inventory. Many subsequent versions include crafting recipes for new items and blocks. A player can use the 2x2 grid in the inventory or the 3x3 grid provided by a crafting table to craft. A furnace is needed to melt blocks. This furnace can also be used for fuel.

Brewing and enchanting

An Enchantment Table that contains glyphs is being absorbed into.

Using a brewing stand, you can make potions by brewing. The potion is stored in a glass container and can be consumed by the player, or thrown at other mobs to produce a specific effect. Enchanting can also be used for upgrading armor, tools, and weapons with an anvil or enchanting table. You can gain more powerful enchantments by gaining experience and placing bookshelves around an enchanting table.

A creeper hiding in a forest. Creepers follow the player and explode when they get close.

Mobs, short for "mobiles", are the animals and other creatures found on the map. Passive mobs, on the other hand, attack the player with hostile mobs. Neutral mobs attack when provoked (not all neutral mobs are provoked the same way).

The Overworld contains many passive mobs that may be killed for food or bred with one another; these include:

Pigs can be ridden by a saddle, holding a carrot on the stick and dropping raw porkchops upon their death. Cows: You can milk your cows with a bucket if you have to give up raw beef. Sheep: drop raw mutton and 1 wool upon death and can be sheared to produce 1-3 wools. Chickens: After death, drop the raw chicken and feathers and lay eggs. Horses can ride a saddle or drop leather after death. They travel faster than the pigs and can also be used to ride a saddle. Rabbits can be dropped with rabbit meat, hide, and its foot. This is a brewing item. Bats: ambient mobs that fly around caves. Fish: Passive ambient mobs drop a variety of items, including food and bones. If they are not killed while on fire, the mobs that drop food leave behind the raw version of their food.

Common hostile mobs that are found all over the Overworld include:

Zombies can be attacked by melee damage. Skeletons: Have a bow and infinitely numerous arrows. Spiders can leap great distances and climb walls. Witches use potions. Creepers will explode if they are within a few feet of the player. Endermen: are tall and black creatures with purple eyes which turn aggressive when the player looks at them.

Some mobs in the Overworld are rarer and spawn only occasionally or in certain biomes, places, or times.

Spider jockeys: a skeleton riding a spider.

Chicken jockeys: A baby zombie riding a chicken. Slimes can spawn in swamplands or deep within the map. Villagers: Can trade with the player and can live in villages. Cats can be tamed to live in villages or swamp huts. Parrots: Can imitate nearby mobs. Wolves: Can be controlled by the player and can attack enemy mobs if they engage or are attacked by them. Llamas can store items and create caravans. Mooshrooms - mushroom-covered cows spawn in mushroom fields biomes. Vindicators spawn in wooded mansions. Pillagers: spawn at pillager outposts. Evokers spawn in Woodland Mansions. Phantoms: spawn in the event that the player hasn’t slept within three days. Pandas can spawn in jungles, though they are more common within bamboo jungles.
Some are found only in the Nether.

Ghasts: flying ghosts that shoot exploding fireballs at the player. Zombified piglins can wield golden swords, and attack in hordes if provoked. Piglins are able to barter to obtain ingredients or blocks. Wither skeletons, tall skeletons with stone swords and dropping coal. Sometimes wither skeleton skulls can also be used to summon an additional boss, the wither. Blazes: Shoot fireballs at players, and hover above ground. Magma cubes: similar to Overworld slimes, but they are fire resistant and do more damage. Striders: are the only passive mobs naturally spawning in the Nether, which can walk on lava and be ridden with a warped fungus on a stick.

The End contains the Ender Dragon, which is the main boss mob in Minecraft and allows the player to exit back to the Overworld when it dies.

Withers are the second boss mob in Minecraft and are created by the player by placing wither skeleton skulls on top of soul sand or soul soil in a specific pattern. They can shoot wither skulls at nearby undead mobs while also causing the Wither Effect in any mob they hit.

The Nether

The Nether.

The Nether is a dimension in Minecraft accessible from the Overworld by a nether portal. It consists of five unique biomes, which are the nether wastes, the basalt deltas, the crimson and warped forests and the soul sand valleys. Each biome has unique generation and terrain. It is home to zombified hoglins and blazes. Ores in the nether include nether quartz, nether gold and ancient debris. The Nether also contains large lava oceans that have striders walking across them.

The End

The End.

The End is another dimension of the game where the player battles the ender dragon. The End can only be accessed through an end portal in a stronghold. The End is composed of end stone and is inhabited by endermen. It also contains tall obsidian towers, on top of them are end crystals that can heal the ender dragon. Once the ender-dragon is defeated, the exit portal is placed in the center of your map. An end portal is placed near the edges of your map. This portal transports you to the expansive outer islands. These islands are full of chorus fruit trees and filled with chest loot and shulkers. The portal can only be accessed by throwing an Ender Pearl. To enter the portal, use elytra to open trapdoors or to access it. There are no ores at the end.

Multiplayer (Java).

PvP (players vs players) on a multiplayer Server.

Minecraft multiplayer servers have developed to include their own rules and customs, guided by their administrators and moderators. The term griefer, meaning a player who causes grief, is a typical term on the internet but has taken up its definition on Minecraft servers: a person who destroys or defiles other users'' creations on servers.

Griefers are the reason many server administrators make rules, but this has been taken a step further with modifications to the Minecraft server and even plugin-based replacement servers such as Bukkit. Because of these plugin-based servers, new user-created features have shown up in Minecraft. This includes features like money, vehicles, protection, RPG elements and more. These features don''t usually require modification of a user’s client and can easily be accessed through chat commands. The chat screen can be accessed by pressing T.

Spleef, a play on "grief", is a popular multiplayer game. It''s a game in which the player aims for another player to fall through the floor by destroying blocks under their feet. This game is usually played in one area and is often run automatically by server plugins.

Many popular multiplayer servers exist that may contain, PvP arenas, custom minigames or large Survival or Creative worlds.

Multiplayer (Bedrock).

Multiplayer in Bedrock Edition differs from multiplayer on the Java edition in that it is centered around a friend system. A player can add friends through the Friends tab in the menu or in the pause screen of a world. Instead of paying for a realm or server, a player may invite their friends to join a world. Minecraft has featured servers on Bedrock, which means that they are available when opening the game. There are seven featured Servers: The Hive CubeCraft Mineplex Mineplex Mineplex Lifeboat Mineville Galaxite Pixel Paradise.

Minecraft Realms

Minecraft Realms is an official subscription-based server hosting service that allows players to create and manage their own private Minecraft multiplayer worlds. Realms, hosted by Mojang Studios allows for a fast and easy way to create servers. The owner can also manage them from within Minecraft without needing to be familiar with the concepts of hosting on the Internet. Realms cannot be used to host large servers. Instead, they can be used by friends or family as a server. Private Realms servers, which are free and easy to set up, are available 24/7 provided that the owner pays.

There are a number of other versions of Minecraft.

Minecraft 4k is a simple version of Minecraft in the style of other "4k" Java games (everything is packaged in 4 kibibytes) that Notch has entered in contests. Minecraft: Pi Edition was a free ported version of the 0.5.0 version of Pocket Edition for the Raspberry Pi,[17] which was intended as an educational tool for novice programmers. It allowed users to modify the game code and supported multiple programming language; however, it was removed in January 2016. Minecraft: China Edition is a version of Minecraft that is available only in China.

Game customization

Add-ons

Mojang Studios/Minecraft has officially supported add-ons (Bedrock Edition only) as the first step to bringing customization to all Minecraft editions. They are currently able to change the look of the worlds, alter the behavior of mobs, add entities, items, blocks, structures and functions, as well as biomes.

Behavior packs

Behavior packs [Bedrock Edition only] alter the behavior of vanilla fogs and mobs. They are still in development, and will soon also be able to modify how blocks and items work[citation needed].

Officially, the game allows you to change most of its textures, sounds and texts using resource packs. Resource packs must contain a certain structure of files and folders placed in the .minecraft/resourcepacks folder. Installed resource packs, as well as the folder in which resource packs are placed, can be accessed in the options menu. The number of files in the resource pack will determine how much the resources are modified.

Data packs

Data packs [Java Edition only] allow players to further customize vanilla realms in a similar manner to resource packs. Data packs, unlike resource packs that modify the game''s resource, can be used to add or override new advancements, loot tables structures, recipes and tags, without any code modification.

Skins

Skin is the texture applied to a player''s model or mob. The skin is divided into areas which represent the character''s surface (e.g. the left leg area, the front head, and the left foot). A skin can only allow solid color. Transparency is prohibited on the skin file unless on the second layer. Playing offline, pixels may be left free, creating "holes" within the skin. The second layer can be used for accessories such as glasses, hats, and other clothing. Players can also change the arm size to be slim or normal. The slim variant is 3 pixels wide while the normal variant is 4 pixels wide.

Java Edition

in Java Edition, there are no special features in the skins. This version contains only the features that are listed in the first portion of this section.

Bedrock Edition

There are many options for skin customization in Bedrock Edition. Players can create 3D custom hair and eyes, as well as add legs, arms, and mouths. Players can also change the size of a character. Players can also get many different accessories for the skin. The player cannot purchase custom skins, but only an in-game one. The accessories and skins that players can purchase are also available. A skin that is smaller or larger than normal does not affect your hitbox size. However, it can give you an advantage on multiplayer servers as it can be more difficult to see them. Some skins hide their armor and hand-held items.

Capes

Capes are an uncommon vanity item that players can wear on their backs. in Bedrock Edition, players start with a cape that is not equipped by default and some skins come with capes.

Capes also flail around when the player runs. The texture of the capes changes when the player equips them with elytra.

Unofficial mods

Java class files can be added to minecraft.jar in Java Edition. Mojang will not allow you to make custom modifications. This can cause the game''s inability to run if the mod becomes obsolete, defective, or is in conflict with other mods. These modifications impressed Notch and Jeb enough that they were added to Mojang''s game. The authors were also credited under Additional Programming. Mods like Hippoplatimus’ Piston Mod and horses modified by Dr. Zhark are examples of mods that were integrated into the maingame. These mods were included in Beta 1.7, 1.6.1 and 1.6.2 respectively.

Third-party programmes

There are many programs for Minecraft. These include 3D viewers and map editors, game modifiers, game viewers, and informational programs such as crafting recipes and server wrappers. Mojang does not support these, just like mods.

Reception

Metacritic ranked Minecraft as one of the best video games of the 2010s,[18] and Video Game Canon ranks Minecraft as one of the best games of all time. [19]

In response to Minecraft''s popularity, many references have been made in culture. This includes memes and references in these TV shows and movies.

- In Super Meat Boy, Steve? [26] is an unlockable figure. He is also known as Mr. Minecraft. - In Battlefield Heroes, players could get a Royal Minecraft T-Shirt or a National Minecraft T-Shirt from the 29th to the 31st of July, 2011. [27] - Top Notch, a hat in Team Fortress 2, resembles Notch''s avatar but is cubically shaped. This hat is unique to Notch. - The Elder Scrolls V is Skyrim and The Binding of Isaac both have an item called the "Notched Pickaxe" that can be found and used. This is in reference to Notch, the creator of the game, and the pickaxes prominently featured in Minecraft. [29][30] The Binding of Isaac afterbirth contains another item called the "Mine Crafter", which uses TNT.

- In the prologue Breaking the Bank Henry attempts to get inside the bank using the shovel option. But Henry hits and ignites the gas main. The failure message is "Never go straight down". ", a well-known Minecraft tip. - In chapter 2, Stealing the Diamond, if the player selects the "sneak in" option and then the "pickaxe", Henry begins to mine the wall of the museum the diamond is in, only for a creeper to come up behind him and explode. Henry survives the explosion, however, and he was able to gain the entrance he sought. - In chapter 5, Completing the Mission, there are multiple references to Minecraft throughout the routes. - If the player launches with the "Government Supported Private Investigator" and "Convict Allies" ending, and then selects the "jetpack" option, the player can select the "build" option, in which Henry begins building a bridge out of dirt blocks from the building he is standing on to the Toppat rocket. Henry accidentally walks off the edge when he runs out of dirt block and then falls to his death. He dropped a stick and steak, as well as leather boots. ", similar to the Minecraft death screen. - If the player launches using the "Pure Blooded Thief” and "Presumed Dead", then selects a "Stop" option. After doing nothing, Henry attempts to "mine glass" in a similar way to Minecraft but is shot down. Henry''s rocket will run out of fuel and fall to the ground if the player selects "Hammer(Right)." This may be related to the Minecraft achievement. - The player can choose to launch with the "Government Sponsored Private Investigator" or "Ghost Inmate" endings, and then select the "Magic Hat", "Free Transform" options.

TV shows and movies

The 2nd episode of South Park''s season 17 featured a kid teaching Minecraft to an adult audience. [43] - In the The Walking Deceased movie trailer, the Minecraft zombie sound can be heard at 0:30. [44]- Season 25 of The Simpsons had a couch gag called SimCraft. This episode featured Bartender Moe, a creeper, blowing up the house. [45]- The title characters of Rick and Morty mention or are seen playing Minecraft in Season 3 Episode 10. [46] – Season 4 Episode 3 - Rick opens a laptop and says "Ok, now I''m going more Minecraft".
