Minecraft Briefly Got Raytracing On Xbox Consoles - But It Was A Mistake IGN


Microsoft seemingly began testing Raytracing in Minecraft earlier this week, but it was actually an error. The feature was removed.



Following the announcement of its inclusion, the feature was removed from an update that was a preview for Xbox consoles. The update included the raytracing preview on both Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, but according to Microsoft, it should never have been introduced in the first place.



"The previous Minecraft Preview build available to Xbox Insiders inadvertently included prototype code for raytracing support on Xbox consoles," the company confirmed. "This early prototype code has been removed from Preview and doesn''t signal near future plans for bringing raytracing support on consoles."

It''s true that just that they''re testing it doesn''t necessarily mean Minecraft will get raytracing on Xbox consoles any time in the near future. Even though Microsoft teased raytracing support over the past two years.



Although Microsoft has now nixed the update and explained that it will not be coming to your Xbox consoles anytime soon but it does indicate that Microsoft is clearly working on the feature. It may eventually be added to Xbox consoles.
