WRUP: Come On, Man, It Is The ''90s

Each week, simply initially of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider employees and ask them, "What are you enjoying this week?" -- otherwise known as: WRUP. Join us to see what we''re as much as in and out of game, and catch us within the feedback to tell us what you are playing, too!

Going to BlizzCon? No? Why not? It is the ''90s! Everybody''s going to conventions nowadays!

Positive, it is in Southern California, and for a lot of you, that''s a long way from residence. But man, this is the ''90s. They''ve planes now. And some of those planes even have air phones. You''ll be able to hook up your 14.4k modem to a type of and connect with your favourite Warcraft 2 BBS, possibly play just a little Legend of the Red Dragon from 20,000 ft. Why not? It is the ''90s!

What''s that? Server lists say it isn''t the ''90s -- it''s 2011? Properly, after all it is! I know precisely what at present is. See this Casio digital watch on my wrist? It has the day, week, month, and yr on it. Everyone''s bought one -- everybody, that is, who''s living within the ''90s.

BlizzCon, the most popular occasion of the ''90s, is coming up in a mere two weeks. So in the present day, along with the same old question of "What are you taking part in?" (Super Nintendo and Scattergories, obvi), I had our top-notch writers (many of whom have Tripod pages) reply a bonus question: "What terrific advice do you''ve gotten for the go-go BlizzCon attending folks of the ''90s?"

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) This weekend will probably be spent finishing my entry for the worldwide Writing Contest -- in different phrases, writing like a madwoman.

As for BlizzCon -- make certain you could have plenty of water along, the convention hall is greater than it looks! Present up for panels early, check the occasions schedule and determine what you need to hit prematurely. Additionally -- comfy footwear. Severely, you will be on your ft just about all day long. Comfy footwear are the perfect!

Allison Robert (@AllisonRobert) I will be going to another wedding this weekend but will otherwise be on the PTR getting notes for an upcoming Shifting on tanking and healing the three new 5-mans.

As for BlizzCon, I''ve but to go, but when I had to guess from past experiences with tutorial conferences and the like, have just one bit of advice: Do not wear heels.

Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart) (gplus.to/alexziebart) Been enjoying some Dead Island and hopefully will get a hefty amount of co-op time in with a buddy of mine. Good coop games are way more rare than they must be.

For BlizzCon, take more shirts than you suppose you may need. When you get super-sweaty, stop into your hotel room and change shirts. It''s higher than being smelly and uncomfortable all day.

Chase Hasbrouck First WRUP /yay. Persevering with my feral soloing in challenge in WoW (when Kuwaiti latency permits), else taking part in SpaceChem on Steam. All the fun of programming without the code!

BlizzCon: by no means been, but experience has taught me always to follow the 3 W''s when traveling: water, weight, and strolling (comfortably).

Daniel Desmond (@hazmacewillraid) I''ll be doing a bit of bit of PTR spelunking, trying out the brand new dungeons and paladin adjustments, but mostly I''ll be scratching a couple of extra tallies into my wall with a plastic spoon, counting the times until Skyrim releases.

As for BlizzCon, this can be my first! As such, I''ll be sticking to my guildmates like black leather seats on a scorching summer season day.

Daniel Whitcomb (@DanielWhitcomb) Since my mage and warrior are on hold till the 4.3 goes live, I could see if I can solo me some extra tier 5 for my warlock. I''m additionally enjoying some Aquaria and Bastion (once more) on Steam, so I may do some extra with these video games.

My recommendation? Hygiene. Specifically, double-, triple-, and quadruple-check your travel bag. If you miss something like a toothbrush or a shaving kit, chances are you''re going to have to pay an arm and a leg to change it.

Daybreak Moore (@dawnwow) Not taking part in something this weekend, however I''ll be watching lots of StarCraft 2 and League of Legends at IPL3.

Advice for BlizzCon? Hmm ... Waiting in the badge choose-up line is not obligatory if you don''t need to be the primary one into opening ceremonies. Just decide up your badge while everyone is in line for the ceremonies and you will be in and out in 5 minutes.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I am nonetheless on my honeymoon in NYC, however once i get again I''ll in all probability start AC: Brotherhood, since my AC2 disc is scratched and I do not assume I can end.

Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) (gplus.to/foxvanallen) I have been in Philly for a stable part of the week, and I will be staying in Philly throughout the weekend hanging with my good friend Chester. All kinds of fun will probably be had. Like in the present day, I ate Dutch meals. We are a terribly boring folks, we Dutch.

My BlizzCon recommendation: If you wish to hold out with Fox, I suggest you get your request in ahead of time, because there are lots of you, only a few nights in lovely Southern California, and just one Fox. Further, I advise anybody who shouldn''t be from an area with Jack in the Box eating places to go eat at a Jack within the Box restaurant. Oh my god.

Joe Perez (@Lodurzj) Extra LoL, I''ve a new champion to be taught! Additionally extra alt leveling in WoW and actually trying forward to another choose my journey day Sunday; I am going to in all probability start earlier (3 p.m.) this week and go till 5. I''ll also be livestreaming the journey, so be certain to observe Twitter for the link and time!

Greatest BlizzCon blunder: not carrying comfortable and supportive footwear. Critically, you stand and stroll a lot that you''re a fool if you do not. Additionally, the quantity of ache your ft will be in will be shocking. Additionally, drink / bring lots of water and attempt to eat outside of the convention middle. Tons of excellent local locations to nom issues at which can be a quick walk from the convention heart.

Josh Myers (@Elamqt) I am liking my military of premade and main-transferred shaman on the PTR. I even have a lone mage premade who was set up with spec/glyphs/keybinds/and so on. and then promptly forgotten.

I have no BlizzCon recommendation, although I warning all Wow Insider meetup attendees to keep away from eye contact with Fox. That''s simply frequent sense, though.

(Excellent point. That is how I select my prey. -- Fox)

Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra) Hoping for some high quality time with my DS, but I''m not sure, as I will be working at my job, doing art, and it''s Thanksgiving up here in Canada-land, so there''s that. I will be heading out of town Sunday night time to see my household.

BlizzCon recommendation? Take the well being-examine:

Carry plenty of water with you.

Wear comfy footwear (with insoles if needed). Remember to stretch your lower again each hour or so!

Carry some protein-rich snacks with you -- pure food bars, dry-roasted nuts (like almonds and cashews). Con food is overpriced and filled with crap, and this will keep you fuller longer. /well being nerd

Mat McCurley (@gomatgo) (gplus.to/gomatgo) I am a damaged file. League of Legends and WoW.

Tips for BlizzCon: convey a bottle of water if you''ll be able to, take things slow, put on comfortable sneakers, and purchase Mat McCurley drinks on the WoW Insider Reader Meetup.

Matt Low (@matticus) In a change of pace, enjoying on my Nintendo DS. Replaying some Remaining Fantasy VI! My faaaaaavourite Remaining Fantasy collection -- ever!

Matt Rossi (@matthewrossi) (gplus.to/MatthewWRossi) My hand is completely screwed up now, so bad I do not assume I can play much of anything. (I am typing this one-finger, hunt-and-peck type).

As for BlizzCon, I''ve never been.

Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Some Sword of the Stars with some buddies, for (probable) last sport before the sequel comes out. We''ll ship the outdated woman off in fashion. I will even be getting some serious Minecraft time in since my guild''s server was down last week. Must make up for misplaced time!

This may solely be my second BlizzCon, however the most important factor I picked up last yr is to be actually early to something you wish to go to -- panels or no matter. Apart from badge pickup on Thursday evening. It''s open for hours and badges aren''t limited in the identical way seats or house is. No want to point out up early for that line; go later that night and coast right by means of to pickup.

Michael Gray (@writegray) I''ll be shooting weddings by most of the wedding, which is without delay exciting and terrifying. I am not the pro of the crew, so I besides to spend a number of time going "Hurrr ..."
The weekend is the right time to kick again, calm down and enjoy some sport time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can''t get enough raiding? Rolling a brand new alt? Contemplating taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite technique to play World of Warcraft, let us know within the comments what you are taking part in this weekend!
