What Are The 4 Oldest Minecraft Servers That Are Still In Operation?
Minecraft has been around for a long time now and its popularity is growing. However, since its official release on November 18 2011 numerous servers have been added, deleted, and forgotten. Over the past 12 years, Minecraft has had four servers. Some were full of chaos and drama, while others were a quiet place for friends to hang out.

Position 1 - Novylen
Date of Creation Date of Creation: April 9th, 2010.
Created by Rbos
The Novylen Minecraft Server located in Canada is the official name of the oldest Minecraft Server ever created on April 9th in 2010, four months ahead of the previous holder, MinecraftOnline. But if you read previously you'll notice that MinecraftOnline was released the day multiplayer was created and how was Novylen developed prior to this?
While the server was introduced the day after Minecraft Multiplayer's launch, the map was created much earlier, since rbos, the owner, first played the map in his singleplayer world way back in the Minecraft InfDev period (specifically InfDev 20100413), four months prior to the release of Minecraft Multiplayer. In addition the server has not been reset once, meaning that a player could have hopped on over 10 years ago, built something, then gone, with their creation being the only evidence of their existence. Novylen is far less popular than 2b2t. This means that it hasn’t been subject to the same fate as many other griefs, exploits hackers, griefs, and so on. This has led to some of the first creations that were released in 2010 still being used in the present!
Position 2 - Nerd.nu
Date of Creation: June 10, 2009 *

Nerd.nu was first established on June 10th, 2009, first opened just three days after Minecraft's unofficial Multiplayer release, Version 'Classic 0.0.16a'. Survival mode was not yet a feature of Minecraft at this time. Nerd.nu has hosted a variety of Minecraft creations, as you can see in the above image. The server has seen numerous game modes added over time The most popular and oldest is the 'Creative' type which means that players don't have a health bar, can fly, and build whatever they like with their imagination.
Although the server was built in the beginning, some argue that MinecraftOnline is much older than it. This is because the map has been reset numerous times over the years, so it isn’t the same world that it was ago. Nerd.nu's Creative gamemode is currently on its 36th revision, meaning it has previously been reset 35 times.
Nerd.nu was not considered the oldest server due to the above mentioned resets of servers. It's a bit young. Position 3 - MinecraftOnline Date of Creation August 4, 2010 Created by: SlowRiot
MinecraftOnline was launched on the 4th of August, 2010 and has since enjoyed the reputation of the oldest server in Minecraft's history, given that it was created within an hour of Notch releasing survival multiplayer mode. It's amazing that the server has been online and hasn't been reset since. Why is it not looking like the cobblestone sludge that 2b2t is?
Amazingly, the server has had staff since its inception. MinecraftOnline also has rules that players must abide by, unlike 2b2t. However this doesn't mean everyone must adhere to the rules. In the 12 years of MinecraftOnline's existence, more than 43,000 players were banned. But it's not just that. The size of the world (remember that it has never been reset) has reached 26GB, a world in one.
Position 4 - 2b2t (2builders2tools)

Date of Creation: 1st December 2010 *
2b2t is among the most well-known Minecraft servers. 2b2t was founded in December 2010. It is known as an anarchy server. Editum means that there are thousands of players using the hacked client software, and the server is not friendly. This creates the server's distinctive, beat-up look. The most prominent feature of the server is its map. It hasn't been updated since it was created. This means that a lot of players have departed over the years leaving their marks on the server.
In it's early days 2b2t saw a steady flow of players, varying between 10 and 80 over the course of time. This changed in June 2016, however, when the well-known YouTuber TheCampingRusher uploaded his first video. The server has been utilized by many other YouTubers, making 2b2t an extremely popular site. The server had over 1000 users at peak times in 2022 and it's not looking like that number will drop anytime soon.
In conclusion, as well as these servers, a lot of other servers date back to the year 2011. Not all servers have been around for this long and
Popularity isn't just a matter of the past. Minecraft Server Lists have existed since this time and show some of the top Minecraft servers around. A server list (or server database) is an informational list of a server. The information is typically comprised of details such as the name of the server, its IP address and ports.
