How To Edit Minecraft Server Files

The web based FTP client lets you manage your Minecraft server files with relative ease from your panel. To access your Minecraft server files using the web client, navigate to FTP File Access and log in using your panel password. Once authenticated, you''ll be directed to the home directory on your server.

Navigating Your Server Files

Navigating through your server''s files is a lot like what you do on your personal desktop. The directory structure is in the middle. We can navigate to, select, and modify our files here. To see the contents of the folder, click it. To edit the file, click Edit. To download the file you must click the actual name.

You''ll find options to manage the files that you have checked at the top. Hunter Once you have selected items checked, you can issue actions to them like:

Move - Move selected files to another directory on your server. Select files can be permanently deleted by deletion

Copy - Create an image of the selected files.

Rename - Rename specific files

Download - Select files can be downloaded in an archive format.

Zip - Archive selected files and save them onto the server.

Unzip and extract the contents of an archive and save it to the directory you''re currently in.

Edit - Edit the respective file using the built-in text editor.

Create a New Folder and Files

You can create new folders or files directly from your panel using the New Dir, New File, or Upload option in the left side menu.

New Dir - Create new directory (or folder)

New File - Create new plain text files.

Upload - Upload a group of files or an archive.

You can only upload single files using the Upload option. You cannot upload entire folders. Uploading an entire folder will require you to first archive it and then unzip it.

Limitations

The web-based FTP client is fast and simple to edit server settings and uploads. However, it is not without limitations. When you commit changes to your server files or uploading files you are using the panel''s web page as an intermediary for the file exchange. This means that you can only upload a limited amount of files in one session. This limit is 50mb. Any upload or commit of files larger than this will need to be performed using an alternative FTP client such as Filezilla. Third-party clients such as Filezilla don''t have a limit on file size, since they connect directly to your server''s files instead of the web-based FTP client.
