CurseForge Launches New API For The Community


Overwolf, the guild for in-game creators, has released a new tool for modding creators to use for games like Minecraft, World of Warcraft and many more the CurseForge API. The software lets modders distribute their mods directly through the internet. It also opens up a whole new world of possibilities for gamers to publish their content online.



This new system will give creators more control over their work, specifically with regards to third party distribution. Authors now have the option to accept distribution outside of CurseForge. This lets them control how their content is distributed, and also protects the monetisation through the Authors Rewards points system.



Modders aren't the only ones who can use CurseForge's API to their advantage. Just Another Wordpress Site The new terms and conditions of service agreement will open up a wide range of possibilities for users who can access the system. This includes mod managers, discord bots, and other gaming community projects, which will enable the system to grow and assist gamers in new ways.



CurseForge API already approves 217 applications which include 42 bots as well as 25 analytics tools. There are also nine general modding tools and 11 modpack creation tools. All power to the players



What does this mean for players? Overwolf has developed a standalone version of CurseForge to meet the needs of players. The Windows standalone version, currently in alpha, is based on Electron and allows players to download and manage add-ons, mods and more in one place. The currently in alpha versions of the standalone client includes support for World of Warcraft, with plans to support Minecraft and other games later on.



Linux users can download the beta version of the app for their operating systems. It currently supports World of Warcraft only.
