Report: Jason Momoa Will Star In That Minecraft Movie

The Minecraft film is assembling its actors. Jason Momoa, whom you might recognize as the guy sporting biceps with mountains and a flowing hairfall from Aquaman or the guy sporting mountainous biceps and a waterfall of hair from Game of Thrones, will play a role in the Minecraft film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is the truth.

The Minecraft film is still out there, even if you have forgotten about it. It first surfaced in 2014 when Minecraft creator Marcus "Notch” Persson posted a tweet about its "potential existence" in an attempt to prevent "leaks". Since then, the movie has been in various states of development hell (an industry term that refers to projects that have languished for a number of years because of production issues).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jared Hess will now be the director. Hess is most well-known for his wacky coming-of-age comedy Napoleon Dynamite, but he has also directed a handful of television episodes, including two episodes for Will Forte's The Last Man on Earth.

It's not clear what the storyline of the Minecraft film will be. But with Hess acting as director and with Momoa who has good comedy chops, leading the project, it's a safe bet that Minecraft isn't as dark as the other film that revolves around a game of blocks. Tetris is, to quote Matthew Vaughan, is a "political Cold War thriller."
