Minecraft And Screencastify Install
Students can log in to Minecraft: Education Edition using their AISD email address. This information is available in the User Profile menu of the AISD Portal. After logging into an AISD email account students will be asked their student ID number and password in an AISD Portal pop-up window. This will occur regardless of the device that the student is using.

Instructions for Installing on Austin ISD Student Chromebooks
Austin ISD Chromebooks capable of running the Android version Minecraft: Education Edition will need to first access the Minecraft installation page from the Google Play Store. Student Chromebooks should find the Google Play icon in the Chromebook Shelf at the lower right of the screen.
Only apps approved by the district can be downloaded from the Google Play store app. Click on the Minecraft Install button on Google Play.

Directions For Installing On Non-Austin ISD Windows Computers
Click the purple Windows button to download Minecraft: Education Edition Windows Desktop Edition. You'll need to find the downloaded file and then open it. (It should either be in a new tab at the bottom of the browser, or in the Windows Downloads folder.)
The Windows operating system will guide you through the installation process. Select your language and then agree to the End-User License Agreement. Continue to click Next until you are required to click the Install button. The installation could take a few minutes before you are able to click the Finish button that will end the installation.
Instructions for Installing on Macintosh Computers
Click the purple MAC button to download Minecraft Education Edition for Macintosh. The downloaded file must be opened and located. It should be in either the Downloads folder or in a new tab at the bottom.
The Macintosh operating system will guide you through an installation process. Select the language you prefer and agree to the End-User License Agreement. Continue clicking Next until you are asked to click the "Install" button. It is possible for the installation to take several minutes before you reach the Finish button. This will end the installation.
Instructions for Installing On iPads
Students can use Minecraft on an Austin ISD student iPad once their teacher has installed Minecraft Education Edition app on the student's AISD iPad. During school hours, find the app in the Creator Apps section of the iPad.
Download Minecraft to your iPad from the iTunes Store. The app is available for free download. The button below will show you the app on the iTunes store.
Screencastify Screen Capture Extension Installation
A live demonstration of the learning can be a valuable method of demonstrating it. Video screen capturing is a great way for teachers to give an online demonstration activity or for students to capture a digital product with their recorded voice, which describes the product.
Screencastify is an Chrome extension that was approved by Austin ISD. Students and staff can add the extension to their Chrome Web Store.
Student Directions For Installing Screencastify
Austin Independent School District Chrome Web Store is available to students. From there, any app that is approved can be downloaded. This is the only way to install a Chrome app or Chrome extension on an Austin ISD Chromebook. Start the Chrome launcher on the Chromebook. Find and open the Chrome Web Store App. Click the Austin Independent School District link to access the app library that is approved. This page will help you find Screencastify and install it.

Capture Your Video
Once the Screencastify extension is installed, all students can make a video that is up to 5 minutes. Before you begin recording, practice your group presentation. Optional Editing of Your Video
You can be as creative as you want when creating your world or making your video. Screencastify lets students make edits. Your AISD account includes a basic video editor. Learn more about editing videos from Screencastify's support site.
