Penny in the donut shop acted in a way that said "you are here" (I see you, I notice you, I care, even in some tiny way), when she asked if I wanted "my usual." I didn't know she noticed me at all, enough to notice a "usual." and then she offered me an apple fritter. I think it's bc she could tell I was feeling miserable.
